Unless a consistent set of variables is used in all analyses, BABAR publications will be incoherent and hard to compare. The purpose of this note is to present the relevant information required to reach a wide consensus regarding common variables. We present some introductory material and make recommendations regarding possible common variables and their naming scheme.
