PLOT-0043 Production of pi+-, K+- and p/pbar at sqrt(s) = 10.54 GeV and in Hadronic Y(4s) Decays

We present measurements of inclusive charged pion, kaon, and proton production
cross sections and fractions in e+e- collisions from the 
BABAR experiment, both on and below the Upsilon(4S) resonance.  
The DCH and DIRC are
used to identify clean samples of charged pions, kaons, and protons
over a wide range of momenta and polar angle in the laboratory frame, 
corresponding to 
nearly complete momentum coverage in the e+e- center-of-mass
system.  The continuum data, below the Upsilon(4S) resonance, precisely
test perturbative QCD calculations and fragmentation models.  The
precision is comparable to that of existing measurements at the
Z0 resonance.  The data at the Upsilon(4S) resonance provide, after
continuum subtraction, a direct probe of the inclusive properties of
hadronic B meson decays.
