We present a first observation of the etac decay mode etac -> p pbar pi+ pi- and the
measurement of the branching fraction product BR(B+- -> etac K+-)*BR(etac -> p pbar pi+ pi-)
from a sample of 89 million BBbar pairs collected by the BaBar detector at the PEP-II
asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC.
The result is BR(B+- -> etac K+-)*BR(etac -> p pbar pi+ pi-) = (7.6^{+1.7}_{-1.6}\stat +- 0.9\syst)*10^{-6}.
We also measure the branching ratio for the etac -> p pbar pi+ pi- decay mode with respect to
the etac -> K Kbar pi decay mode to be BR(etac -> p pbar pi+ pi-) / BR(etac -> K Kbar pi) = (0.092^{+0.024}_
{-0.022}\stat +- 0.014\syst) and, using the world average for BR(etac -> K Kbar pi), we derive
BR(etac -> p pbar pi+ pi-) = (5.1^{+1.3}_{-1.2}\stat +- 0.8\syst +- 1.6\syst)*10^{-3}.
